BMW Group India has officially opened bookings for the BMW i5 Long Wheelbase (LWB) electric sedan. Assembled locally at the BMW Group Plant in Chennai, this marks a major milestone as the automaker's first locally produced electric sedan in India and its second locally manufactured EV, following the iX1 LWB.

The stretched electric sedan enters the market under the eDrive 35L trim, explicitly designed for rear-seat comfort and tailored to Indian driving conditions.
- Battery & Electric Range: Features an 81.6 kWh high-voltage battery pack delivering an MIDC-certified range of up to 669 km on a single charge.
- Power Output: Driven by a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 268 hp, capable of 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 6.7 seconds.
- India-Specific Adaptations: Comes standard with adaptive rear-axle air suspension and enhanced ground clearance to comfortably handle local road surfaces.
- Dimensions: Measures 5,175 mm in length, 2,156 mm in width, and 1,520 mm in height, backed by a generous 3,105 mm wheelbase.
Exclusive "First Edition" Variant Launched
To celebrate the "Made in India" debut, BMW is offering an exclusive First Edition model limited to just 99 units.
- Exterior: Carbon Black Metallic paint scheme complemented by Titanium Bronze accents.
- Interior Upgrades: Open-pore fine-wood trim, Individual Silver Bronze inlays, dedicated rear-passenger tablet holders, and laser-engraved "First Edition" badging on the dashboard.
