In a move set to redefine urban mobility in India, electric mobility platform Bijliride has announced a strategic partnership with Indofast Energy. The collaboration aims to scale B2C electric vehicle (EV) rentals by integrating a massive battery swapping infrastructure, effectively eliminating "range anxiety" and charging downtime for daily commuters and gig workers alike.

Solving the Charging Deadlock

The primary hurdle for EV adoption in the rental sector has long been the hours required for a full charge. By leveraging Indofast Energy a powerhouse joint venture between IndianOil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and SUN Mobility Bijliride users will now have access to over 1,484 swap stations across 23 cities.

With Indofast Energy already recording over 3.5 million monthly swaps, the infrastructure is primed to handle high volume demand. This integration allows riders to swap a depleted battery for a fresh one in under two minutes, ensuring seamless continuity for long distance deliveries and daily commutes.

Phased Rollout: Hyderabad Leads the Way

The expansion will follow a strategic geographical roadmap:

  • Launch Phase: Hyderabad

  • Next 12–18 Months: Bengaluru, Pune, and Chennai

Bijliride plans to deploy several hundred electric two wheelers in the initial phase, with fleet numbers expected to grow in tandem with consumer demand and station density.

Flexible Mobility for the Gig Economy

The partnership isn't just about hardware; it's about accessibility. Through the Bijliride app, users can choose from a variety of flexible plans:

  • Daily and Weekly Rentals: Ideal for tourists or short term commuters.

  • Gig Worker Subscriptions: Tailored for delivery partners needing high uptime.

  • Long term Mobility: Providing an "ownership free" experience without the burden of maintenance or battery degradation risks.

"Our partnership with Indofast Energy is centered on making electric mobility more practical and accessible," said Shivam Sisodiya, CEO & Co-Founder of Bijliride. "By reducing downtime and improving availability, we are delivering a more reliable experience while accelerating our B2C growth."

Impact on the EV Ecosystem

The collaboration is expected to significantly boost unit economics for Bijliride by increasing vehicle utilization. When bikes spend less time plugged into a wall and more time on the road, the cost per kilometer drops, making EV rentals more competitive against traditional petrol powered alternatives.

As India pushes toward its 2030 EV targets, the synergy between a rental platform like Bijliride and an infrastructure giant like Indofast Energy provides a blueprint for how private and public sector interests can align to green the "last mile" of Indian transport.
