Ather Energy and BPCL join hands to establish EV charging infrastructure at fuel stations
A renowned OMC, Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL), and
Ather Energy
have formed a strategic alliance to improve and broaden the network of charging stations for electric vehicles.Through this partnership, Ather Energy will have access to BPCL's nationwide network of more than 21,000 petrol stations, making it possible to deploy Ather's fast-charging Grid.
Through this partnership, Ather Energy's coverage in urban areas is bolstered, and it is made easier to construct charging infrastructure along intercity routes that see a lot of traffic. Ather Energy's inaugural phase saw the successful installation of four fast chargers at various sites around Delhi NCR. By the end of the year, the business hopes to grow up to over 100 rapid chargers at BPCL outlets all throughout India.
Ather Energy's chief business officer, Ravneet Phokela, stated: "Since our founding, Ather Energy has concentrated on developing a substantial and comprehensive charging infrastructure, which is essential to driving EV adoption in the nation. Our collaboration with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), the largest oil and gas corporation in India, strengthens the drive to establish a vast, national fast-charging network. Through this partnership, we will be able to utilise BPCL's 21000 petrol stations and bring Ather Grid closer to our clients across the nation. We think partnerships like this play a critical role in increasing accessibility to charging infrastructure as EV usage increases."
"BPCL is constantly working to align ourselves with the nation's vision to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040," said Rajiv Dutta, Head of Retail North at BPCL. As part of a comprehensive decarbonization plan to promote and prioritise sustainable projects, we are slowly getting closer to our objective of transforming 7000 of our traditional retail outlets into energy stations. A system for charging at retail outlets will provide early EV consumers confidence and convenience.
