About Hero Electric
Setting the stage for Hero Electric, the Munjal brothers founded Hero Cycles in Ludhiana in 1956, followed by Hero MotoCorp in 1984. Gaining 20 years of experience in the internal combustion engine (ICE) two-wheeler market, the Hero Group expanded into the electric vehicle market in 2007 by introducing Hero Electric. In 2021, it held about 65 per cent of the market share and sold more than 50,000 electric 2-wheelers, followed by a 103% growth in the next year.
Hero Electric prioritises providing environmentally friendly two-wheeler solutions at an exceptional value to its customers. Their commitment to a "No Emission" mission is evident in their extensive range of electric vehicles, contributing to a greener future for the country.
The company upholds rigorous quality standards, meticulously inspecting and testing each product through 46 stringent checks before delivery. Furthermore, Hero Electric maintains SA 8000 certification, demonstrating its commitment to environmental consciousness, social responsibility, and ethical business practices.
Hero Electric continues to be one of the leading brands in the EV 2-wheeler industry even in the face of fierce competition from companies like Ola, TVS, and Ather, albeit their market share appears to have somewhat decreased. Currently, Hero Electric offers two slow-speed (>25 kmph) models, the Eddy and Atria, along with four high-speed models, such as the Photon and Optima, in a rather decent range. Hero Electric also sells an electric bike called Velocity, which should not be confused with the e-bikes made by Hero Cycles.
