Ather 450X Versus iQube ST & OLA S1Pro
Ather Energy standing against the Competition
Ather Energy
is an Indian electric vehicle company, headquartered in Bangalore. It was founded by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain in 2013. It manufactures two electric scooters - the Ather 450X and the Ather 450 Plus. It has also established electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the country called Ather Grid.
In December 2019, Ather Energy signed a MoU with Government of Tamil Nadu to set up a 400,000 sq ft (37,000 m2) manufacturing plant for electrical vehicles in Hosur. The invested amount will be around ₹635 crore in 2020. The company added two new products to its portfolio, the Ather 450X and the Ather 450 Plus in January 2020.
Where does Ather 450X Gen 3 stands against the competition?
Ather 450X
is one of the best quality electric scooters as it is the third-generation scooter. Ather 450X has an acceleration of 0-40km/hr in 3.3sec generating a torque of 26Nm with peak power output of 6.2kW powered by 3.7kW battery capacity giving a range of True Range 105Km (claimed by Ather Energy).
Now comparing the same with OLA S1 PRO
having 8.5kW giving a range of 135Km as seen in practical usage is still a better in this range category. In acceleration OLA S1 PRO has an acceleration of 0-40km/hr in 2.9s.
Coming to display console both have almost similar features like 7.0 inch TFT display with water resistant, Positioning system (GNSS with AGPS in Ather and MapmyIndia by OLA which gives OLA a slight upper edge in GPS service), in terms of OS Ather using Android OS while OLA S1 PRO using MOVE OS 2 (while by November 2022 beta testing of MOVE OS 3 has been started) which is more vehicle centric and can be tweaked to get most out of it.
Riding performance is one thing, but comfort and safety should not be compromised and Ather 450X gen3 has an upper edge in this as it is based on conventional telescopic front forks and mono-shock suspensions while OLA S1 Pro has single telescopic suspensions.
Conclusion
OLA S1 Pro
has better performance feature packed but Ather has slightly better safety and sturdy body with comfort and braking mechanism. Now as our comparison clarifies what ather 450X holds we can also compare to its another competitor TVS iQube ST. iQube ST has a 4.56kWh battery capacity while Ather having 3.7kWh battery capacity which comparing to range gives the obvious results as iQube ST has 145 Km of range while Ather 450x GEN3 has a range of 105Km which is less on papers.
