Servotech in talks with Kerala Govt; plans to establish 12 EV charging stations in the state
Servotech Power Systems, on Wednesday, was awarded a contract to build 12 EV charging stations by The Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology (ANERT), Department of Power, Government of Kerala.
According to the press release, it would establish 12 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations with 30KW Fast DC EV Chargers at various Kerala Motor Vehicle Department locations. Servotech will provide, commission, and construct EV charging stations under this contract.
The already-started pilot project will be carried out in phases, with the first phase comprising the installation of four EV charging stations and the second featuring the installation of eight EV charging stations.
As the country transitions towards the era of electric vehicles (EV), South India is emerging as the preferred production and export hub for the auto sector.
The growing desire for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), which assist in increasing fuel efficiency, cutting fuel costs, and reducing pollutants, is promoting market expansion in the area. Moreover, increased investment in EV charging stations across South India is boosting the market's outlook.
According to a report published by CBRE Research in June 2023, southern states account for around 33% of India's EV manufacturing and 23% of sales.
