Sahibabad RRTS welcomes NCRTC’s 1st EV charging station
The first Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has been operationalized at the Sahibabad RRTS station in Ghaziabad, according to a statement released on Sunday.
According to the statement, the recently opened EV charging station is located at gate number 1 of the Sahibabad Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) station and features a wide range of charging units suitable for different types of electric vehicles.
The statement said that this move is one of several being taken to ensure last-mile connection and that customers would be able to use the rapid charging station to power their four-wheelers in only one hour.
The statement also said they could charge their two-wheelers in one and a half hours and their four-wheelers in three hours using the station's sluggish charging capability.
Additionally, the same mobile application will allow users to conveniently pay for the power they use on a unit-by-unit basis, with the extra flexibility of online payment alternatives, the statement said.
Other running RRTS stations, such as Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, and Modi Nagar North, would soon have access to EV charging stations, the announcement read.
Since the beginning of the first regional rail project execution in India, NCRTC has worked to reduce its environmental impact.
In March 2021, NCRTC also approved a solar policy as part of its dedication to the national solar mission and the advancement of clean and sustainable energy sources. It also said that NCRTC's objective for the next five years is to enhance the proportion of renewable energy by producing about 11 MW of peak internal solar power on the rooftops of stations, depots, and other structures for non-traction uses.
