Karnataka at rank 1 in charging infra: Bescom receives award

Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) has received the 'Charge India 2024 Excellence' Award for its efforts to create electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and promote eco-friendly mobility in Karnataka. The prize was awarded at a recent event attended by representatives from the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), private EV charging service providers, and prominent players in the EV business.


Karnataka leads the country in public EV charging facilities, with a network of 5,765 charge stations, 4,462 of which are in Bengaluru alone. 


According to a press release, the bulk (5,479) are privately operated, with Bescom installing 195 stations, other Escoms installing 70, and the government department installing 21 stations.
