Government to take action against FAME II violating EV manufacturers
Manufacturers of electric scooters who have been found guilty of fraudulently claiming subsidies under the FAME II scheme are going to face punishment from the Indian government.
The government is reportedly considering a number of penalties, including forbidding these businesses from obtaining subsidies in the future and halting the subsidy on automobiles sold during the previous 15 months. According to reports, the Ministry of Heavy Industries will consult with other government agencies before deciding on the fines since they would affect investments.
In order to collect roughly Rs 500 crore, the government previously served warnings to seven
EV
manufacturers, including Hero Electric, Okinawa Autotech, Ampere EV, Revolt Motors, Benling India, Lohia Auto, and AMO Mobility. The centre has also stopped paying subsidies totalling Rs 1,400 crore to 13 businesses that the ARAI was looking into.Companies that have been found to be innocent should start receiving subsidies by the end of this month. A government official claims that Rs 200 crore has already been paid and that the remaining claims would be resolved by the end of the month.
