EV Index report: Chandigarh tops in EV infra, followed by Goa and Delhi
As electric vehicle (EV) adoption increases in India, Chandigarh, Goa, and Delhi are at the forefront of EV and charging infrastructure development, followed by Maharashtra and Karnataka, according to the annual research by HERE Technologies and SBD Automotive released on Monday.
According to the annual EV Index published by the firms, Chandigarh has the highest score of 81.9.
Chandigarh's success is reportedly due to its extensive Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) deployment strategy, which offers incentives for EV purchases and the building of charging infrastructure.
Moreover, the company’s approach has made Chandigarh not only ranked one in the overall Index but also has the most chargers per battery electric vehicle (BEV), with 148 chargers servicing a relatively tiny population of 179 BEVs, according to the research.
In terms of fleet penetration, Rajasthan has the greatest percentage of BEVs among its vehicle population, at 0.049 per cent.
Underling the state’s effort, the research further stated that Uttar Pradesh, has the country's largest BEV fleet, with around 18,300 EVs already on the road.
Automakers, energy corporations, and governments are all heavily involved in building the charging infrastructure required for the future of electric transportation.
