Delhi receives 400 Starbus EVs from Tata Motors
Through its subsidiary TML CV Mobility Solutions, one of India's leading producers of
commercial vehicles
, Tata Motors, has given the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) 400 Starbus electric buses. This is a smaller portion of a bigger 12-year contract with DTC to provide, maintain, and operate 1,500 low-floor, air-conditioned electric buses. Tata Motors claims that with this deployment, it will have provided more than 1,000 e-buses nationwide.On September 5, 2023, Vinai Kumar Saxena, the Delhi Lieutenant Governor, and Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Chief Minister, inducted and launched the fleet of 400 e-buses. Other dignitaries in attendance on this occasion included Naresh Kumar IAS Chief Secretary, Shilpa Shinde, IAS, Managing Director of DTC, Ashish Kundra Commissioner-cum-Principal Secretary (Transport), Government of Delhi, and Kailash Gahlot IAS Minister of Law, Revenue, Transport, Women & Child Development, Information Technology, and Administrative Reform.
"This addition of 400 electric buses will make mass transit safer, wiser, and greener throughout the National Capital Territory," said Shilpa Shinde. These new buses will support our combined efforts to enhance the city's air quality in addition to giving commuters easier access, better comfort, and convenience.
The chairman of TML CV Mobility Solutions, Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay, stated, "We are thrilled to cooperate with DTC in its visionary and progressive approach to making mass mobility green and noiseless and emission-free. Our ten-year partnership with DTC is further strengthened by the introduction of these 400 e-buses. Among other cutting-edge innovations, the Tata Starbus e-bus is fitted with electronic stability control, electronic brake distribution, air suspension, the Intelligent Transport System (ITS), and a panic button.
