Andhra Pradesh is leading the way in bringing about the revolution of

electric vehicles

in line with the Union government's target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070. The state has made the decision to offer one lakh EMI-based electric automobiles to state government workers. Benefits like free registration and no road tax will be included with this.

In addition, the state government is creating over 400 charging stations for electric vehicles in a variety of locations in an effort to promote an atmosphere that is favourable to electric mobility. At the moment, 265 stations are in service, with the remaining ones being developed. Furthermore, the government plans to place EV charging stations every three miles inside city borders and every 25 kilometres along national routes. There were already over 4,000 sites set aside for this use.

Vishal Kapoor, CEO of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), described the company's national electric bus plan as a huge undertaking with the goal of distributing thousands of electric buses across the country. “To optimise procurement while reducing expenses, EESL uses a demand aggregation approach. As a product, E-bus operators throughout the nation may now operate profitably, ” stated Kapoor.

During a webinar with a few CEOs, Vishal Kapoor discussed the projects, their outcomes, and their future objectives. He stated that EESL and CESL both emphasise the critical role that public-private partnerships have played in India's electrification revolution." By integrating government initiatives with private sector innovation and investment, they highlight the effectiveness of this collaborative approach," stated Vishal Kapoor.

India's aspirational goal is to have 30% of electric vehicles on the road by 2030. As a result, it is anticipated that 346 million tonnes of CO2 emissions and 474 million fewer types of oil imports will occur.

Programmes and regulations like FAME (rapid adoption and manufacture of hybrid and electric cars) are helping to fulfil this objective. Remarkably. With 6,500 active public charging stations as of March 2023, the country is strengthening its EV infrastructure. The two- and three-wheeler categories account for over 80% of all EV sales in 2023.

Officials claim that partnerships with international partners spur innovation and provide bespoke solutions that perfectly meet India's specific needs, from buttery switching to smart charging networks. Sustainable public transit is anticipated to be advanced by the national electric bus initiative. This is in line with India's environmentally aware goal of a more eco-friendly and productive period for public transit.
