Policy 2.0, which targets commercial EVs in an effort to lessen pollution in the nation's capital, is the final version, according to Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot's statement on Friday. According to Kailash Gahlot, by 2030, every vehicle must be electric.

In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Kailash Gahlot stated, "There are specific targets for EV induction when increasing fleet size. Currently, 10% of all vehicles in Delhi are electric." Speaking on the Electric Vehicles Policy 2.0 last month, Kailash Gahlot stated that, given the high cost of retrofitting a vehicle, the policy will look at providing incentives.

August 8th, of this year marked the expiration of the Delhi Electric Vehicles Policy 2020. The government had previously said that the subsidies provided under the policy would persist until a new policy was announced. Kailash Gahlot declared today that this was the final policy. "We are working on a cabinet note, which should be completed this week. Until the new policy is announced, the current policy will remain in effect for an additional six months, according to Kailash Gahlot.

People desire to change their internal combustion engines (IC engines) to electric engines, according to Kailash Gahlot, who provided further explanation regarding the strategy. "The procedure is costly. A typical Gipsy conversion costs around ₹5–6 lakh, which is on the upper end. We'll examine the best ways to reward it."

The minister from Delhi mentioned that the government also prioritises last-mile connectivity. The deployment of 3,000

e-scooters

and e-cycles to improve last-mile connectivity is the subject of a tender that we have put out. Initially, 1,500 of these cars would be parked at metro stations. We are launching the initiative as a trial in Dwarka," he continued.

He stated that 750 additional vehicles would be added and stationed during the second phase. The remaining 750 vehicles will be launched in phase three, which will be the last phase.
