established a new production unit as the demand for EVs rises.
Following the increase in demand for Ather scooters
, the company inaugurated its second manufacturing unit on Monday. Ather is looking forward to producing 450x and 450 plus from 120,000 to 400,000 units. Earlier this year, the company established its first manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
Previous this month, Ather experienced its best-monthly sales. Over the last year, the company registered 12-fold growth and achieved a revenue rate of $100 million.
With the booming Ev market industry in India, the battle of E-two wheeler vehicles has got tense. Some top players are Ather Energy
, TVS, Hero Electric, and Okinawa. Also, the landmark entry of Ola Electric has been significant in the proliferated rivalry, primarily when the company aims to sell ten lakhs per annum. However, being an Indian brand, Ather has the upper hand over ola in the Indian EV space.
"The Ev demand has been shooting up across the country, and customers are coming in expecting electric scooters to wow them," Tarun Mehta, Co-founder, and CEO of Ather Energy
, said.
He added, "So within just ten months of opening our current facility, we are already operating at full capacity. We are commissioning the second plant to be ready for 2022."
Ather is reported to invest Rs 650 crores in the next five years. The company expects that the following update will enhance its operational efficiency. Also, Ather claims that their 90%of the manufacturing is localized.
Meanwhile, with the dynamic market, Hero Electric has also started to increase its production capacity at its manufacturing unit in Ludhiana. At the same time, Okinawa
is all set to invest up to rs 250 crores to build a new manufacturing facility in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. The step is taken to achieve a 100 % localized product.
