Nexon.ev: The Market Leader
Driving this massive growth is the Nexon.ev, which has officially become India’s first electric vehicle to cross the 100,000 cumulative sales mark. Since its launch in 2020, the Nexon.ev has spearheaded the shift from niche adoption to mainstream acceptance, proving that Indian consumers are ready for long-range, performance-oriented electric SUVs.
Shailesh Chandra, MD & CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., noted that the milestone reflects a shift in consumer behavior:
"Crossing 250,000 EV sales reflects how electric mobility is fast becoming part of everyday Indian life. Our customers are driving more, travelling farther, and increasingly trusting EVs as their only cars."
Future Roadmap: Sierra.ev, Avinya & New Launches for 2026
Looking beyond current milestones, Tata Motors unveiled an aggressive product roadmap for the next few years, signaling a massive expansion of its portfolio.
Key Upcoming Launches:
-
CY 2026: Launch of the highly anticipated Tata Sierra.ev and a new Punch.ev.
-
Late 2026: Debut of the Avinya range, marking Tata’s entry into the premium luxury EV segment.

By FY 2030: Introduction of five new EV nameplates and multiple refreshes across the existing lineup (Tiago.ev, Curvv.ev, Harrier.ev).
Building the Ecosystem: 1 Million Chargers by 2030
Addressing range anxiety head-on, TATA.ev announced ambitious targets for charging infrastructure. Currently, the company provides access to over 2 lakh charging points.
-
By 2027: Target of 400,000 charge points, including 30,000 public fast chargers.
-
By 2030: A massive network of 1 million charge points via the TATA.ev Open Collaboration framework.
Deep Localization: The 'Make in India' Advantage
Tata Motors is moving towards greater self-reliance by localizing the most critical EV component: the battery. The company confirmed that future vehicles will source locally produced High Voltage (HV) battery cells from Agratas’ upcoming gigafactory in Sanand, Gujarat.
Currently, every TATA.ev vehicle is built with over 50% locally manufactured content, a figure set to rise as the company localizes power electronics and thermal management systems to reduce import dependence.
