Bajaj planning to enter EV Four-Wheeler Market

Bajaj Group traces its history to the pre-Independence era established in 1926 has come a long way and shown its domination in the 90s with its

Bajaj Pulsar

portfolio and its reign has also grown manifolds with its entry into the electric 2-wheeler market with the launch of Bajaj Chetak. Earlier in 2012 bajaj launched its quadricycle under the name of Qute which was petrol/ diesel based but it was not for personal use only available commercially to replace e-rickshaws.

Bajaj Auto Limited seems to be forgetting the personal 4-wheeler segment but later news popped up with the comeback of

Qute

not only in the bio-fuel variant but also in EV and this gave hope to the rise of new vehicle competitors in the 4-wheeler EV market. Mr Rakesh Sharma, the executive director of Bajaj Auto Limited (BAL) in an interview said that the EV version of the qute is under development and assures that the BAL’s intentions to enter the private vehicle segment are not dead yet. The expected launch could be at the end of 2023.

Now, we are at the end of 2022,

EVINIDIA

brings you exclusive news - The Bajaj Family Group, helmed by Nirav Bajaj, is setting their sights on the electric vehicle market. This project is backed by Nirav's cousins Rajiv and Sanjiv as active investors. Kaushik Ganguly, the former head of product planning at Maruti Suzuki and former Director of Great Wall Motors, has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer of Clean NRG Technik, which has Nirav Bajaj as director. Ganguly announced his new post on LinkedIn, and the company is presently engaged in the process of recruiting its initial team members. The development of automobiles is an intricate and capital-intensive endeavour, yet with the emergence of EVs, it has become a rare opportunity for new players to join the car manufacturing game. When can we expect this venture to take off? Will it be targeting the entry-level market or the higher-end segment, such as Pravaig's Defy? Will this be a domestic venture or will it go global? These are questions that remain to be answered.
