Tata reveals all-new Punch EV: All you need to know

Tata Motors

finally unveiled the all-new Punch EV last Saturday. The micro SUV's all-electric version is built on a brand-new EV-specific architecture known as acti.ev, or Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle, which will serve as the foundation for a number of upcoming fully-electric vehicles.

For a meagre Rs 21,000, pre-orders for the all-electric mini SUV are already being accepted. The prices for the same will be revealed at a later time.

The Tata Punch, which runs on batteries, gets some very important visual upgrades. To begin with, the front fascia has undergone a total makeover, featuring a sealed-off nose that is centred by a thin, linked LED DRL strip. The front bumper has undergone significant reprofiling to accommodate new triangle headlight clusters on either side, vertical strakes, and a silver fake skid plate.

All things considered, the Punch EV's exterior is reminiscent of the 2022 unveiling of the Curvv concept, which served as the design basis for the redesigned Nexon and

. The Tata logo in the middle, which doubles as the charging port inlet, is another distinctive feature. Additionally, there is a helpful storage area beneath the bonnet where you may keep the adapters and charging cords.

It is evident that the silhouette and side profile have not changed. The design of the back is also mostly comparable to that of its ICE brother, with a sculpted tailgate and wraparound tail lights with Y-shaped LED components. The insertion of a fake silver-coloured skid plate to the rear bumper is the only modification.

Tata Motors has unveiled fragments of the all-electric Punch's cabin, which suggest that it won't stray too far from its fossil fuel-powered sister. Redesigned air conditioning vents, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display, and Tata's new two-spoke, lighted steering wheel are just a few of the modifications.

However, less expensive models will still have the same semi-digital instrument panel and smaller 7-inch touchscreen as the standard Punch. The Punch EV is equipped with a number of noteworthy features, such as an electric sunroof, air purification, LED fog lights with cornering functionality, ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charging, a Harman audio system, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.

Six airbags, ABS, electronic stability control (ESC), blind view monitor, three-point seat belts for every seat, ISOFIX mounts, electronic parking brake with auto hold, SOS function, and ISOFIX mounts are all standard equipment that ensure occupant safety.

Although the engine specifications of the forthcoming Punch EV have not yet been formally confirmed by Tata Motors, it is known that two battery options—standard and long-range—will be available. It is reasonable to expect that the standard range will provide a peak range of 300 km on a single charge because it is based on the acti.ev architecture, which guarantees a range between 300 km and 600 km. Regarding the engine, it is anticipated that the Punch EV would have a single, front-wheel drive configuration.

The Long Range version will further benefit from a 7.2kW AC charger, while the normal range version will only be available with a 3.3kW AC charger. Additionally, it supports 150kW of DC rapid charging.
