Tata Power Expands India’s EV Charging Network: 7.5 Lakh Charging Sessions Enabled, Saving 50,000 Tonnes of CO2

In a major milestone for India’s green mobility transition, Tata Power has announced that its high speed EV charging network has facilitated over 7.5 lakh (750,000) charging sessions across the country.

The expanding infrastructure has powered more than 414 million green miles (electric kilometers driven), effectively preventing approximately 50,000 tonnes of CO2 tailpipe emissions.

As one of India’s largest integrated power companies, Tata Power is rapidly expanding its EZ Charge network to keep pace with skyrocketing consumer demand. To mark World Environment Day, the company is inaugurating brand new charging hubs across major urban centers and high traffic highway corridors.

New Tata Power EV Charging Hubs: Pune, Kolkata & Expressway Locations

The new infrastructure expansions target critical transit corridors and commercial centers to minimize range anxiety for daily commuters and long distance travelers alike.

  • Pune: A premium charging hub at the popular Kopa Mall.

  • Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway: Strategic installations at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) stations on both sides of the expressway.

  • Kolkata: A dedicated Shapoorji Pallonji Mini Hub equipped with six fast charging guns.

India’s EV Market Moves into the Mainstream

The infrastructure boom comes at a time when electric vehicle adoption in India is seeing exponential growth. According to the latest industry figures, total EV sales in India surpassed 2.55 million units in FY2026.

All four vehicle segments two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and commercial fleets registered double digit growth, driven heavily by favorable running costs compared to conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.

"India's energy future is being shaped not just by policy ambition, but by the everyday choices of millions of citizens increasingly aware of the cost and consequences of conventional fuel dependence," the company stated in a media release.

By building out its footprint across residential communities, commercial offices, national highways, and urban hubs, Tata Power’s EZ Charge network aims to ensure that charging accessibility matches consumer intent, paving the way for a smarter, more resilient green energy ecosystem.
