Tata Power Bolsters Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway with New 180 kW Ultra-Fast EV Charging Station

In a significant move to eliminate range anxiety for electric vehicle (EV) owners, Tata Power has officially inaugurated a state of the art 180 kW ultra fast DC charging station on the busy Mumbai–Ahmedabad Highway (NH-48).

Located strategically at the Vithal Kamat Restaurant in Durves, Manor, this new high capacity hub is set to become a vital pit stop for EV travelers moving between the industrial hubs of Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Powering the Future: 20% to 80% in Minutes

The centerpiece of the new installation is the 180 kW ultra fast charger, one of the most powerful public charging units currently available on the NH-48 corridor. Unlike standard fast chargers, this ultra fast unit can juice up compatible electric vehicles from 20% to 80% in approximately 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the vehicle's battery management system.

"This launch is part of our mission to create a seamless, high-speed charging corridor across India’s busiest National Highways," a Tata Power representative stated. "By placing ultra fast chargers at popular transit points like Vithal Kamat, we ensure that charging fits naturally into a traveler's break."

Key Features of the Manor EV Charging Hub:

  • Ultra-Fast Speeds: 180 kW capacity significantly reduces downtime compared to traditional 50 kW or 60 kW chargers.

  • Strategic Location: Situated at Durves (Manor), providing a perfect mid-point for those traveling from Mumbai toward Vapi, Surat, and Ahmedabad.

  • Traveler Amenities: Located at a premium restaurant, allowing users access to clean restrooms, dining, and waiting areas while their vehicle charges.

  • Easy Access: Fully integrated with the Tata Power EZ Charge App, allowing users to locate, book, and pay for charging sessions in real time.

Solving the "Range Anxiety" Puzzle

The Mumbai–Ahmedabad Highway is a critical artery for both commercial and private transport. Until recently, long distance EV travel on this route required careful planning. The addition of a 180 kW station at Manor ensures that even luxury EVs with large battery packs and budget EVs alike can "top up" quickly, making the 500km+ journey between the two metros more viable than ever.

As of early 2026, Tata Power continues to lead the Indian EV infrastructure space with over 5,500 public charging points across 600+ cities. This latest addition reinforces their commitment to a greener, more sustainable "Electric Highway" vision for India.
