The 2023 Nexon
EV
facelift, which offers notable upgrades over the last model, has been announced by Tata Motors. The electric SUV now has the same design language as its petrol and diesel siblings, which was inspired by the Curvv. The redesigned Nexon EV also has a number of ground-breaking technology improvements.Beginning at 8 a.m. on September 9, 2023, World EV Day, reservations for the new Nexon EV will be accepted for a nominal booking fee of 21,000 yen. On September 14, formal price information will be made available.
The Nexon EV models were formerly known as Prime and Max, but the Indian carmaker has changed their names to Long Range and Mid Range. The 465 km long range of the Long Range version is an increase of 12 km over the previous generation. The mid-range model, on the other hand, has a single-charge range of 325 km, an increase of 13 kilometres from its predecessor.
This electric SUV now has a Gen2 motor that can operate up to 16,000 rpm instead of the previous 12,000 rpm and has a longer operational range. A large peak torque of 215 Nm and an astounding 106.4 kW (142.6 bhp) are produced at the wheels by this improved powerplant.
Tata has significantly increased the flat torque curve's spread over the range by an extra 750 rpm, resulting in more reliable performance. The SUV has a peak speed of 150 kmph, up from the previous 120 kmph, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.9 seconds.
The NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) levels have been further decreased and mellowed, according to Tata. Additionally, with an increased regen efficiency of 10-15%, the new Nexon EV now provides regeneration through paddle shifters. It also has the lowest rolling resistance tyres among cars in its class.
Previously available only in the Max variant, 7.2 kW charging is now available in the revised Tata Nexon EV Medium Range model. The manufacturer claims that when utilising a fast charger, a full charge may be obtained in just 56 minutes. Additionally, identical to the Hyundai Ioniq 5, this model has V2L (Vehicle to Load) and V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle) charging capabilities. The new Nexon EV has a maximum output of 3.3 kVA with V2L, while V2V allows for charging capabilities of up to 5 kVA for compatible EVs and 3.3 kVA for non-compatible EVs.
The new Tata Nexon EV comes equipped with extra amenities including an auto defogger and automated temperature control with Xpress cooling. It has six airbags, ISOFIX anchors, and standard ABS and ESP as far as safety features go. A 360-degree video system with sensors in the front and back, seatbelt reminders for every passenger, and front parking assistance are further features of the SUV.
The battery pack also adheres to AIS038 norms and SIL C compliance while maintaining IP67 protection. Critical e-SUV characteristics are continuously scanned by telematics. Standard emergency and breakdown calls, hill descent and ascent control, panic brake alert, auto vehicle hold, and i-TPMS are additional safety features.
A powerful processor supports the enhanced 10.25-inch screen, increasing the audio-visual experience. The screen has grown by 45% over the previous 7-inch model. A 320-watt JBL sound system with five speakers from Harman is also included in the new Nexon EV, and the redesigned digital dashboard can show navigation.
