MG Windsor EV Crosses 75,000 Sales Milestone in India: The Success Story of India's No. 1 EV
In a major win for sustainable mobility, JSW MG Motor India has announced that its flagship electric crossover, the MG Windsor EV, has officially crossed the 75,000 sales milestone in less than two years since its launch. Maintaining its position as India’s No. 1 selling EV, the Windsor continues to rewrite the rules of the Indian electric vehicle market.
With over 19,000 units sold in the first half of CY2026 alone, the vehicle's success highlights a significant shift in consumer preference—moving beyond just early adopters in tier-1 metros to widespread acceptance across emerging markets.
Driving Growth for JSW MG Motor India
The Windsor's steady volume has been a massive catalyst for the brand. Driven by this strong demand, JSW MG Motor India reported a 13% year-over-year (YoY) growth in overall vehicle sales for H1 CY2026 compared to H1 CY2025.
According to Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director of JSW MG Motor India, the Windsor has "meaningfully contributed to accelerating India’s EV adoption, transforming the way India moves."
The Winning "ABC" Strategy
The Windsor EV's dominance can be heavily attributed to what the company calls its "ABC proposition", which successfully removes the traditional barriers to EV adoption for Indian families:
-
A-Segment Price Point: Through the innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, the vehicle starts at a highly disruptive INR 9.99 Lakh plus a battery rental fee of INR 3.9/km. For outright buyers, the range starts at INR 14.70 Lakh (ex-showroom).
-
B-Segment Dimensions: Its compact exterior footprint makes it effortless to maneuver and park in congested city traffic.
-
C-Segment Space: Despite its compact exterior, the clever flat-floor electric architecture provides the interior cabin room and legroom of a much larger sedan.
Powertrain and Range Options
Billed as India's first "Intelligent CUV" (Crossover Utility Vehicle), the MG Windsor balances everyday practicality with solid performance. It delivers 100 kW (136 PS) of power and 200 Nm of torque.
To cater to different driving habits, the Windsor is offered with two distinct battery configurations:
-
Standard 38 kWh Pack: Provides a certified range of 332 km, making it the perfect urban commuter.
-
PRO Variant 52.9 kWh Pack: Delivers an impressive extended range of 449 km, aimed at highway drivers and those taking frequent weekend road trips.
