JSW MG Motor India to Hike EV Prices: Windsor, ZS, and Comet EV to Get Costlier from April 1
If you've been planning to switch to electric mobility with an MG, the clock is ticking. JSW MG Motor India has announced a price revision of up to 2% across its mainstream vehicle portfolio, effective from April 1, 2026. While the hike applies to both ICE and electric models, it significantly impacts India’s most popular EV lineup.
The company cited "sustained pressure from rising input costs" as the primary reason for the adjustment. This move aligns with a broader trend in the Indian automotive industry, where manufacturers are recalibrating prices for the new financial year.
MG EV Models Affected
The price hike will apply to MG’s core electric offerings:
-
MG Windsor EV: The newly launched "CUV" that has taken the market by storm.
-
MG ZS EV: The premium long range electric SUV.
-
MG Comet EV: The smart, urban electric car (including variants under the BaaS battery subscription model).
Premium "MG Select" EVs Exempted
Interestingly, JSW MG Motor has decided to exclude its high end, luxury electric vehicles from this hike. The MG Cyberster electric sports car and the MG M9 luxury MPV, which are sold through the exclusive "MG Select" channel, will continue at their current price points.
Why the Price Increase?
The electric vehicle segment is particularly sensitive to the cost of raw materials like lithium, copper, and precious metals used in battery production. MG noted that the revision is intended to "partially offset the impact of continuously rising production expenses" to maintain the quality and service standards customers expect.
Last Chance to Save
For buyers looking to avoid the extra cost which could range from ₹15,000 to over ₹50,000 depending on the model the deadline is March 31, 2026. Vehicles invoiced before the start of the new fiscal year will be protected from the price hike.
