Hero VIDA VX2 Electric Scooter to Launch on July 1 with Battery Subscription Model: Game-Changer for Budget EV Buyers

Hero MotoCorp is set to revolutionise the Indian electric two-wheeler market with the launch of the VIDA VX2 electric scooter on July 1, 2025. With its innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, Hero aims to make electric mobility significantly more affordable, flexible, and accessible for the Indian commuter. Starting at just ₹65,000 (ex-showroom), the VX2 may become India’s most value-driven EV scooter to date.

What is Battery-as-a-Service?

The new VIDA VX2 will debut with a subscription-based battery model, allowing buyers to pay for the scooter and battery separately. This "pay-as-you-go" system reduces the upfront purchase cost and lets users subscribe to battery usage based on daily, monthly, or even distance-driven plans.

Top benefits of BaaS:

  • Significantly lower entry price
  • Flexible payment options
  • No hassle of battery maintenance or replacement
  • Users can scale or upgrade without long-term lock-ins

Hero’s BaaS system will cater to budget-conscious urban riders and small delivery fleets, removing one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption in India.

Charging Network & Service Ecosystem

The VIDA VX2 is backed by an expanding charging and service network, including:

  • 3,600+ fast-charging stations
  • 500+ service centers
  • Coverage across 100+ Indian cities

This infrastructure boost ensures users enjoy maximum convenience and peace of mind—crucial for first-time EV adopters.

Design, Variants & Features

While the VX2 borrows the DNA of the previously showcased Vida Z, it is purposefully designed to be cost-effective. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Variants: Likely Lite, Plus, and Pro
  • Battery Options: 2.2 kWh to 3.9 kWh (removable)
  • Claimed Range: Up to 165 km
  • Features:
    • LED projector headlamps
    • LED sequential turn indicators
    • 12-inch dual-tone alloy wheels
    • Front disc brake
    • Physical key slot (instead of smart key)

To keep the VX2 affordable, it forgoes premium touches like a touchscreen display and dual seats, offering instead a smaller TFT instrument cluster and single-seat layout.

Targeting Bajaj Chetak & Ather 450S

With the VX2, Hero MotoCorp is directly challenging electric scooters like the Bajaj Chetak and Ather 450S—but with a much lower price tag and a unique BaaS ownership model. This is a bold attempt to reshape urban EV commuting in India.

Launch Details

The Hero VIDA VX2 and detailed subscription pricing for its battery services will be officially unveiled on July 1, 2025. Analysts expect it to spark a shift in how Indian buyers perceive EV affordability and ownership.
