Govt backed Raptee.HV’s T30 to Debut by November: India’s Next EV Revolution?
Raptee.HV, a Chennai-based electric vehicle company, is expected to start the commercial manufacturing and supply of its electric motorcycle T30 in November this year.
The company has received pre-bookings for over 8,000 EV bike units.
It is to be noted that Raptee.HV is the same EV original equipment manufacturer (OEM) that received financial backing from the Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. (Read full report here)
According to a report, the Raptee.HV electric two-wheeler will feature electric car high-voltage (HV) technology.
Citing Dinesh Arjun, CEO and Co-founder of Raptee.HV, Business Standard reported, “We are going to start putting bikes on the road for end customers, and our production will start from November. We will scale up slowly towards 300 bikes a month.”
The report added, “Our production capacity is around 1,500 units a month. This facility can be increased to 9,000 units a month or 100,000 units a year in volume. We got another 40 acres of land, which will help us scale this up even further. We have already got around 8,000 units so far, without any marketing spend,” Arjun added.
In its track record, Raptee.HV earlier achieved the title of being the only company to secure a non-dilutive grant of ₹3.25 crore from ARAI-AMTIF, Business Standard reported.
The company’s USP is high-voltage motorcycles, which, according to Arjun, is the key to becoming popular in the Indian market. The company received the required certification for its motorcycle in February earlier this year and is expecting a media launch by the end of October.
Raptee.HV has worked for six years to develop its technology from the ground up and has emerged as the only company to offer motorcycles with proven high-voltage car technology, Business Standard reported.
Since motorcycles make up almost two-thirds of the two-wheeler market in India, electrifying them is essential to reaching the country's 2030 goal of 30% EV adoption in two-wheelers. Massive ambitions for retail expansion are also being planned by the company. Additionally, the company is planning to expand its retail business significantly.
