CM: HP to introduce policies for EV charging infrastructure
The Himachal Pradesh government would introduce an effective strategy to expand electric vehicle charging stations in the state and engage commercial operators to put up e-charging stations with a 50% subsidy, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated.
He stated this while presiding over a high-level conference on Sunday night in Shimla. The policy will put an emphasis on a number of things, such as accessibility, ease, and the development of job opportunities.
According to a statement released on Monday, electric vehicles are being promoted to cut carbon emissions with the help of the public and private sectors, and the state is being built as a model state for e-vehicles.
In addition to this, he added that six green corridors were being constructed in the first phase, totaling 2,137 km in length and made up of both national and state roadways.
The chief minister said that the Himachal Road Transport Corporation was gradually expanding its fleet of electric buses and ordered the organisation to designate routes for the usage of the new electric buses. He said that switching to electric transportation would significantly lessen our reliance on fossil fuels.
When discussing the utilisation of land for building projects and the development of infrastructure, he stated that construction activity should not begin until a scientific assessment of the area has been conducted locally. The chief minister also examined the progress of solar power project development. He gave instructions to hasten the land transfer procedure so that these projects may be built.
In order to boost green energy, he also ordered authorities to investigate the possibilities of building green ammonia and biogas facilities. They were also instructed to provide a thorough project report by October 31 in order to build a plant as a test project.
