BMW’s EV powertrain, first time equips Indian-manufactured car parts
Local provider of automotive systems and parts,
Modern Automotives Ltd
revealed on Wednesday that it had been given the go-ahead to deliver differential pinion shafts to the EV versions of German luxury vehicle maker BMW AG Munich, making it the first Indian company to do so.The company announced in a statement that it has been given the order to provide 2.5 million differential pinion shafts by 2034, valued at roughly Rs 150 crore. A permanent gear reduction between the engine and the turning road wheels is provided by the pinion shaft.
Modern Automotives claims that this component demands exacting steel chemistry, micron controls during machining, and effectively established internal grinding procedures.
"For an automotive brand like BMW... developing pinion shaft matching its precise quality standard is a feather in our company's cap and a milestone for the Make in India campaign," said Aditya Goyal, Managing Director of Modern Automotives. This demonstrates the nation's position in the international auto component market.
Established in 2005, Modern Automotives offers components and systems to OEMs of two-wheelers and automobiles, including Honda, Yamaha, Hero, Musashi, and TVS.
In cooperation with HEF France, Modern Automotives says that its unique proprietary coating method enhances the physical and metallurgical qualities of materials. The business added that this extends the components' and parts' lives by three to four times above those of parts made normally.
With a BMW export order like this, the business hopes to raise its current 5 per cent export order book to 25% by 2025. The business operates its own forge shop in Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib.
