VIDA enhances EV ownership experience: Extended warranty, buyback guarantee and more
The electric vehicle division of Hero Motor Corp, VIDA, on Sept. 23, rolled out a new package of ownership services, including 5 years of extended warranties, charging access across 3,600 stations and a guaranteed buyback up to 67.5% resale value. The update came as India’s electric vehicle manufacturers are working to overcome consumer issues regarding charging infrastructure, battery performance and resale value.
The battery warranty is generally available for five years or 60,000 kilometres, while the comprehensive extended warranty covers up to five years or 75,000 kilometres, comprising eleven essential components.
For consumers worried about the resale value of electric vehicles, VIDA's secured buyback program offers financial security by guaranteeing up to 67.5% of the original ex-showroom price after three years of ownership. By providing clear exit options, the program aims to enhance investor confidence in EV investments.
Meanwhile, the VIDA Edge membership service offers more than 40 integrated functions via mobile applications, as well as limitless rapid charging access throughout the company's network. The service includes over-the-air software upgrades, battery health monitoring, and charging station location.
Additionally, VIDA has extended its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, enabling clients to finance the battery and scooter chassis independently. This strategy addresses the price sensitivity of Indian consumers by lowering upfront expenditures by breaking them into monthly payments.
The services include towing and round-the-clock roadside assistance for flat tyres, dead batteries, and mechanical issues with nationwide coverage. The assistance system tackles reliability issues and range anxiety that are common among first-time EV purchasers.
The services will be available through VIDA's dealership network and digital platforms, providing integrated access to the electric vehicle ecosystem. The launch coincides with India's festive season, typically a peak period for vehicle purchases.
"Our mission at VIDA is to democratise electric mobility by making it truly accessible and affordable for every customer," stated Kausalya Nandakumar, Chief Business Officer, Emerging Mobility Business Unit.
She further said, “With our value-added services such as extended battery warranty, assured buyback, and comprehensive roadside assistance, we are removing barriers and simplifying the transition to sustainable mobility. This festive season, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering customers with solutions that make EV ownership effortless and dependable."
Marketed as the "Badalte India ka Scooter," VIDA's newly released VX2 model has reportedly been well embraced by the market. The scooter blends the BaaS finance approach, electric innovation, and traditional dependability.
