Ultraviolette Secures $21M Boost — Global Expansion of India’s High-Performance EV Bikes Begins

Bengaluru-based premium electric motorcycle manufacturer Ultraviolette Automotive has announced a $21 million funding round, led by TDK Ventures, marking a major milestone in India’s performance EV segment. The investment will fuel manufacturing expansion, battery innovation, and a global sales push for Ultraviolette’s flagship models.

TDK Ventures, the deep-tech venture arm of Japanese electronics giant TDK Corporation, sees this as a strategic opportunity to accelerate energy-efficient, high-performance electric mobility solutions from India to the world. The investment is backed by notable repeat investors including Zoho Corporation, Lingotto (Exor Capital), and a roster of high-profile individuals such as Swiggy CEO Sriharsha Majety, Cure Foods co-founder Ankit Nagori, TaxiForSure co-founder Aprameya Radhakrishna, and actor Dulquer Salmaan.

From Bengaluru to Europe — An EV First for India

Founded in 2016 by Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan, Ultraviolette has built its brand on performance-driven electric two-wheelers with futuristic design and advanced engineering. The company’s flagship F77 electric motorcycle not only redefined India’s high-performance EV category but also became the first Indian electric bike to earn European type-approval certification.

Today, the F77 is already available in 10 European countries, setting a new precedent for Indian EV exports.

Next Phase — Scale, Speed, and Smart Tech

With fresh funding, Ultraviolette plans to:

  • Expand manufacturing to meet rising demand in both domestic and international markets.

  • Grow retail presence from 20 Indian cities to over 100 in the coming years.

  • Accelerate battery platform innovation, improving energy density and charging speeds.

  • Push deep-tech R&D in AI-driven vehicle intelligence and safety systems.

Co-founder and CEO Narayan Subramaniam said,

“Our partnership with TDK Ventures enables us to scale faster, innovate deeper, and bring globally competitive performance EVs to riders worldwide.”

CTO Niraj Rajmohan added,

“We are pushing the limits of battery technology and vehicle intelligence to set new standards for safety and performance.”

Global EV Industry Watching Closely

Ravi Jain, Investment Director at TDK Ventures, emphasized that the partnership aligns with TDK’s global sustainability goals:

“By leveraging TDK’s technological expertise, we aim to help Ultraviolette create the next generation of energy-efficient, high-performance electric two-wheelers for global markets.”

This funding signals growing international investor confidence in India’s EV manufacturing ecosystem — particularly in high-performance electric motorcycles, a niche set to see explosive growth.

EVINDIA Analysis — Why This Matters

Ultraviolette’s momentum comes at a time when India’s EV landscape is dominated by scooters like Ola S1 and TVS iQube. By focusing on premium motorcycles, Ultraviolette avoids direct price wars while appealing to global buyers seeking performance EVs.

With strong backing, European market entry, and a tech-first approach, Ultraviolette could become India’s first global electric superbike brand — a title that will boost India’s EV reputation worldwide.
