Uber Electric launches “Go Electric” program in the US
Rebranding “Uber Green” services as “Uber electric”, Uber technology has launched a new program called “Go Electric” to offer a $4,000 incentive to eligible drivers.
The aim of the program is to promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in states such as Massachusetts, New York, Colorado, and California.
The "Go Electric" grant program, when combined with state incentives, has the potential to reduce the price of new or used EVs by thousands of dollars.
The new program came after the expiration of the federal tax incentive for electric vehicles.
Consumers now pay more for EVs due to the $7,500 federal tax credit introduced during President Joe Biden's administration, which lapsed last month.
Uber made the switch to an all-electric model for its Uber Green service in the US earlier this year. In the past, the firm produced a range of totally electric and hybrid vehicles.
Now, more than 200,000 EVs are on its platform globally. Drivers in the US, Canada, and Europe are going electric five times faster than other motorists, according to Uber data.

Uber is offering customers a 20% discount on their next electric trip, marking the rebranding celebration. Additionally, the business is bringing its battery-aware matching tool to 25 new nations.
