Tata Nexon Price dropped by 85000 : Gets New Trims & More
Homegrown automaker
Tata Motors
, on Wednesday, reduced prices for most of the Nexon EV variants. The price for the most affordable Tata Nexon EV, with a claimed driving range of 312 km on a single charge, has been dropped by Rs 50,000 to Rs 14.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Interestingly, Tata Motors' price rejig comes days after the launch of the Mahindra XUV400 EV, which is available at an introductory price of Rs 15.99 lakh only.Tata claims that the government's PLI program, which encourages the development of electric vehicles in the nation, is the reasonable costs for the Nexon EV have already been decreased. The XUV400 is the Nexon EV's only immediate competitor. Thus the price cut is also a tactical measure to oppose it. For comparison, the standard EC trimming of the
XUV400
costs around Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 16.49 lakh and starts with the 34.5kWh battery, whereas the EL trim, which has a bigger 39.4kWh battery, costs Rs 18.99 lakh. The XUV400 represents the first significant threat to Tata's unchallenged supremacy in the widespread EV industry. The outcome of the competition is still up in the air, given that both models are currently marketed and advertised roughly equally.
Tata Nexon Gets Extended Range
In addition, Tata Motors increased the Nexon EV Max's range to 453 kilometers (MIDC cycle), which would be 16 kilometers greater than the model's originally stated range of 437 kilometers. The 40.5kWh battery, meanwhile, has not been upgraded, which was facilitated by a software change. The improved range is remarkably close to the XUV400 EV's 456 km (MIDC) range.
The enhanced range will additionally be made accessible to Nexon EV Max users who already purchased the device starting on February 15 via a software patch. However, the Elite variants have a lesser 30.2kWh battery and have not received a range upgrade.
Tata Nexon Gets New Trims
The firm claims that the latest trims feature push-button ignition, an instrument panel, projection headlights with LED DRLs, LED taillights, automated temperature control, and ZConnect with a connection for smartwatches.
Regarding safety mechanisms, the latest Nexon EV Max's XM variant adds ESP with i-VBAC and an automatic brake pedal with the rear braking system.
According to Tata Motors, shipments of this model would start in April 2023.
