Tata Motors to increase its EV footsteps in Kerala, plans to establish infra
Recognizing the importance of Kerla as an important market, Tata Motors has started increasing its EV presence in the state. With the increase in the state’s interest in sustainable commute options, the company has unveiled its EV fleet in the region. The update is reported to be a step towards state and national efforts to reduce carbon emissions. In addition to this, the company has also decided to develop essential EV charging infrastructure to increase the EV adoption rate.
Tata Motors, an early player in India's EV market, introduced its first electric vehicle in 2019 and soon became a major force in the field. Current models in the company's EV portfolio include the Nexon EV, Tigor EV, and Tiago EV.
The Nexon EV has become popular among buyers looking for a reasonably priced, domestically made EV alternative because of its small SUV shape. The most popular EV in the fleet remains the Nexon Ev which is preferred by customers due to its reasonable price, domestic manufacturing and small-SUV shape. The Tigor and Tiago EVs also provide affordable choices for city dwellers seeking hygienic, effective mobility options.
Tata Motor is aiming to develop a supportive EV charging ecosystem in the state. In an effort, to ease the range anxiety, Tata’s sister company, Tata Power has established charging stations in Kerala, further pushing the EV adoption.
Tata Motors is additionally focussing on local production to control costs and increase the accessibility of EVs. The corporation wants to keep prices that appeal to a wider range of customers by producing parts and automobiles domestically. Furthermore, Tata has teamed up with dealerships in Kerala to promote EVs and offer financing alternatives and test drives, making it simpler for clients who are unfamiliar with EVs to get started.
