Renault Kwid EV looks reveal: Expected features to resemble European counterpart

Renault is all set to launch its first electric vehicle offering in the Indian market as Kwid EV, a rebagged version of Dacia Spring EV currently available in the European markets.

Till now, there have been multiple spy shots of the Kwid EV under heavy camouflage. However, new photos coming from Brazil have revealed the glory of Kwid EV. The images show a huge fleet of all-electric Kwid accumulated at one place.

Reportedly, Renault is preparing to debut the next-generation E-Kwid in the second half of 2025 by stockpiling units in Brazil. According to reports, the company is importing these cars from its Chinese manufacturing plants.

As per the image, the exterior resembles its European equivalent, with the exception of a distinct branding and logo.

The headlamps of the Kwid EV are discreetly integrated into the front bumper and feature a unique Y-shaped LED DRL.  Creating a contrast, a gloss black front fascia is featured with the Renault symbol positioned in the centre of the charging flap. In addition, Y-pattern LED taillights are mounted on the back of the EV and are joined by a sleek black panel that runs the length of the car.

Renault Kwid EV: Features expected

The Dacia Spring, Kwid EV’s European version, features e-Shift gear lever, a height-adjustable steering wheel, a 7-inch completely digital driver's display, and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen. In addition to having a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature, it allows wireless smartphone mirroring for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Moreover, there are two USB charging connections, a roomy 308-litre boot, and an optional 35-litre front trunk (frunk) for added convenience.

A 26.8 kWh battery is expected to power the Kwid EV. It is also anticipated that the vehicle will be available in two versions, the Electric 45 and the Electric 65, same as the global model Dacia Spring. The Electric 45 version produces 125 Nm of torque starting at 2,521 rpm and 44 horsepower between 2,521 and 8,200 rpm. Dacia claims that this version has a top speed of 78 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 19.1 seconds.

The Electric 65 version generates 113 Nm of torque between 500 and 4,057 rpm and 64 horsepower between 4,057 and 6,000 rpm. It can achieve a top speed of 78 kmph and goes from 0 to 100 kmph in 13.7 seconds. According to Renault, both models have a 225-kilometre driving range. The Electric 65 charges from 20% to 80% in just 45 minutes, while the Electric 45 recharges from 20% to 100% in less than five hours.
