BYD Sealion 7 Price Hiked in India (Jan 2026): Base Variant Gets Costlier by ₹50,000

BYD India has announced a price revision for its popular electric SUV, the BYD Sealion 7, effective January 2026. While the top-spec model retains its pricing, the entry-level variant sees a hike of ₹50,000.

Here is everything you need to know about the BYD Sealion 7 new price, affected variants, and price protection for existing bookings.

BYD Sealion 7 New Price List (January 2026)

The price increase specifically affects the base Premium variant. The top-tier Performance variant remains unaffected by this revision.

Old Price (Ex-Showroom)

New Price (Ex-Showroom)

Sealion 7 Premium

₹ 48.90 Lakh

₹ 49.40 Lakh

+ ₹50,000

Sealion 7 Performance

₹ 54.90 Lakh

₹ 54.90 Lakh

Why the Price Hike?

Automakers often revise pricing at the start of the calendar year due to rising input costs and exchange rate fluctuations. Despite the hike, the Sealion 7 remains a competitive option against rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and the Volvo EC40.

Price Protection for Early Bookings

BYD India has confirmed a price protection scheme for early adopters. If you booked your BYD Sealion 7 Premium on or before December 31, 2025, the company will honor the previous ex-showroom price of ₹48.90 lakh. The new pricing applies strictly to bookings made from January 1, 2026, onwards.

BYD Sealion 7: Specs and Sales Performance

Since its India launch in February 2025, the Sealion 7 has been a strong performer for the Chinese EV maker, clocking over 2,300 unit sales in less than a year.

  • Battery: 82.56kWh battery pack.

  • Range: Up to 482km (Premium) and 456km (Performance).

  • Performance: The top-spec AWD variant delivers 530hp and can sprint from 0-100 kph rapidly, competing directly with entry-level luxury crossovers like the BMW iX1 and Tesla Model Y.

Conclusion

While the ₹50,000 hike might seem incremental on a ₹50 lakh car, it positions the base variant closer to the ₹50 lakh psychological mark. However, with the Performance variant price remaining stable, buyers seeking AWD capability and higher power get better relative value in 2026.
