Mahindra revises policy, makes charger optional to buy

In a revised policy, Mahindra has announced that buyers will now have the option not to purchase a company-supplied charger when buying the XEV 9e and BE 6 models. Previously, purchasing a charger was mandatory unless buyers either lacked facilities for a private charger at home or work or already owned a charger that met Mahindra's safety requirements. Moreover, under the company’s guidelines, one charging station may be sufficient for families purchasing two or more Mahindra e-SUVs.

Additionally, Mahindra continues to offer 7.2kW and 11kW AC chargers, which must still be purchased with their born-electric vehicles. The chargers are priced at Rs 50,000 and Rs 75,000, respectively.

Mahindra BE 6 (Formerly BE 6e)

In the Pack Three top model, the Mahindra BE 6 comes with a 79kWh battery pack that can charge from 0 to 100 percent in 8 hours when connected to an 11kW charger, while it takes 11.7 hours with a 7.2kW charger. Other BE 6 models, such as Pack One and Pack Three Select, have a smaller 59kWh battery that requires 6 hours to charge with an 11kW charger and 8.7 hours with a 7.2kW charger.

Mahindra XEV 9e

The BE 6 and the Mahindra XEV 9e share similar 11kW and 7.2kW charger options and the same two battery pack configurations: 79kWh and 59kWh. Consequently, both models have identical charging times. However, the XEV 9e does not include the Pack One Above version available with its smaller electric SUV sibling.

Mahindra’s electric vehicles are scheduled to begin deliveries around mid-March.
