Mahindra BE 6 & XEV 9e Sales Cross 19,000 in H1 2025, EV Market Share Doubles to 17%
Mahindra & Mahindra is emerging as a serious EV contender, as sales of its electric-origin SUVs—BE 6 and XEV 9e—have crossed 19,000 units in the first half (H1) of 2025. With retail EV sales surging 225% YoY, Mahindra’s electric passenger vehicle (e-PV) market share has doubled to 17%, placing it just behind Tata Motors (38%) and JSW MG Motor India (32%).
Between January and June 2025, Mahindra produced 19,915 units at its Chakan EV plant, dispatching 19,070 units to dealerships. Retail sales stood at 12,585 units, as per Vahan data, up from 3,870 units during the same period last year.

Safety & Innovation: Bharat NCAP 5-Star + MAIA AI Tech
Both SUVs boast a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, thanks to 7 airbags, a rigid crash-tested structure, and semi-active suspension. Built with MAIA (Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture), these EVs offer:
- Real-time vehicle diagnostics
- Voice-assisted commands
- Personalised drive settings
- OTA updates and more
These features, along with multi-link rear suspension and variable gear-ratio steering, elevate driving dynamics in the premium EV segment.
Mahindra’s EV Growth vs Tata & MG: The 2025 Showdown
Mahindra’s market share in India’s EV passenger vehicle segment has jumped to 17%, up from 8% a year ago. This positions the brand right behind:
- Tata Motors – 38%
- JSW MG Motor India – 32%
If the current pace continues, Mahindra is on track to challenge Tata’s EV dominance in 2026. With more affordable trims (like BE Pack Two offering the 79kWh battery), Mahindra is now tapping into the mid-to-premium EV buyer segment previously ruled by Tata Nexon EV Max and MG ZS EV.
Final Thoughts
With the BE 6 and XEV 9e, Mahindra is no longer a fringe EV player. Backed by strong sales, in-house technology, AI integration, and expansive battery options, Mahindra’s EV portfolio is one of the most exciting in 2025.
As new variants hit showrooms this month, expect a further spike in sales, market share—and Mahindra’s brand equity in India’s booming electric vehicle ecosystem.
