Kia unveils Carens Clavis EV ahead of its launch: All you need to know

Ahead of its official launch, Kia India has unveiled the Carens Clavis EV as the company’s first mass-market electric vehicle. The unveiled Carens Clavis EV, similar to its ICE counterpart, will be a seven-seater e-MPV and will compete with BYD’s eMax 7, NDTV reported

Kia Carens Clavis EV Design

According to the report, although the EV shares most of its aesthetics with its ICE counterpart, the enclosed grille shape of the front fascia looks like the EV5. It has a charging flat, a section of the nose with a thin upper air inlet above the nameplate, to set it apart from the ICE car. In addition, the fog lamps are positioned low on the bumper. It also receives a fresh design tailored to EVs. This includes ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a seven-seat arrangement, and more.

Talking about the interior, while holding its ICE model look, Kia Carens Clavis EV gets an exclusive re-designed centre console with a storage bin, instead of a gear lever seen in the ICE version of the car. Moreover, the EV also gets a dual-screen layout like the ICE version.

Kia Carens Clavis EV features

Although the majority of the interior features are yet to be known, users can expect features like a two-spoke steering wheel, wireless charging, and dual-zone climate control, the report added

Meanwhile, to ensure safety, the car will probably get a full LED lighting package, Level 2 ADAS, linked automobile technology, and other technologies.

Kia Carens Clavis EV Powertrain

Complete powertrain details have not yet been made public; however, Kia has stated that the Carens Clavis EV will have a 51.4 kWh battery pack with a range of up to 490 kilometres. It makes sense for Kia to offer a smaller 42 kWh battery that is comparable to the Hyundai EVs, since this battery pack was also used on the Hyundai Creta Electric. The electric motor outputs may be similar to those of Creta's offering, NDTV added.
