Kia Syros EV to get launch in 2026: All you need to know
With the introduction of the Kia Syros in India, the hype around the Kia’s entry-level EV offering reached an all-time high. The South Korean company plans to launch the Syros EV in 2026 with a price tag of Rs 15 lakh. The car is likely to compete with the Nexon EV and Mahinda XUV400.
The same reinforced Hyundai-Kia K1 platform that supports the ICE version of this vehicle is probably going to be used by the Kia Syros EV. It should be mentioned that this architecture is also the foundation for the Hyundai Inster EV, which is currently available for purchase in South Korea. To make the Syros EV economically priced, this platform, which is tailored for small electric cars, is anticipated to provide a high degree of localisation.
Based on the same platform, the Hyundai Inster EV has two battery options: a 42 kWh and a 49 kWh pack. The larger battery has a real-world range of up to 355 km, according to WLTP. It is anticipated that the Syros EV will inherit a similar configuration, placing it on the level with competitors like the Mahindra XUV400 and Tata Nexon EV.
Kia hopes to launch the Syros EV on Indian roads by 2026. Designed to be an entry-level EV, it may be the least expensive electric SUV in Kia's India lineup, coming in below the 2025-slated Carens EV.
Following the early 2025 debut of Hyundai's Creta EV and Carens EV, the Syros EV will have fierce competition from competing brands including the Mahindra XUV 400, Tata Punch EV, and Tata Nexon EV.
To provide a high-end and technologically advanced experience, the Kia Syros EV is expected to keep several notable characteristics from its ICE predecessor. An 8-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a number of cutting-edge safety features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines are notable features that are probably going to stay.
Comfort-focused features like heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and Type-C USB chargers might possibly be included in the Syros EV. Expect cutting-edge technologies that improve convenience and safety, such as wireless phone charging, a 360-degree camera, and Level-2 ADAS.
