Kia India Opens 100th Green Workshop, Aims for 150 by 2026 in Push for Sustainable Mobility

Kia India has reached a significant milestone by opening its 100th Green Workshop in Kanpur, hosted at Bright Kia dealership. Launched in 2023 with its first eco-friendly facility in Rohtak, the initiative is part of Kia’s aftersales sustainability program, aimed at reshaping how automotive service networks operate in India.

The company has ambitious plans: expand its green network to over 150 workshops by 2026, strengthening its commitment to sustainable mobility and eco-conscious operations.

Green Workshops: Reducing Carbon Footprint with Smart Technology

Collectively, Kia India’s 100 Green Workshops generate 7.9 MW of solar power, helping prevent nearly 9,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions every year. To put it in perspective, that’s equal to the carbon absorption of 450,000 mature trees.

Each facility integrates multiple eco-friendly features, including:

  • Rainwater harvesting systems

  • Natural lighting & motion-sensor technology for energy efficiency

  • Effluent treatment plants

  • Steam wash systems to conserve water

  • Waterless urinals

Beyond infrastructure, Kia workshops also follow a comprehensive recycling program for used batteries, waste oil, and hazardous automotive materials, aligned with global best practices.

Kia India’s Leadership on Sustainability

Speaking about the achievement, Atul Sood, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Kia India, said:

“Achieving the milestone of 100 Green Workshops within two years underscores Kia India’s commitment to building a sustainable mobility ecosystem. Each workshop brings us closer to a future where progress doesn’t come at the planet’s cost. Alongside our portfolio of three EVs, this initiative reflects our effort to reduce environmental impact and shape a cleaner, smarter mobility for generations to come.”

Kia’s Growth Story in India

Kia India operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, with an installed annual capacity of 300,000 units. Since commencing production in 2019, the company has dispatched nearly 1.5 million vehicles, including:

  • 1.2 million domestic sales

  • 367,000 exports

The automaker’s current lineup includes nine models: Seltos, Syros, Sonet, Carens, Carnival, EV6, EV9, Carens Clavis, and Carens Clavis EV.

With 796 customer touchpoints across 360 cities and 470,000 connected cars on Indian roads, Kia continues to be one of the fastest-growing auto brands in the country.

Why This Matters

Kia’s Green Workshop network is more than a corporate milestone—it’s a blueprint for sustainable aftersales service in India’s auto industry. By reducing emissions, conserving resources, and integrating renewable energy, Kia sets a new benchmark for how automakers can combine business growth with environmental responsibility.

As the EV ecosystem evolves, Kia’s green-first approach may inspire other manufacturers to adopt similar sustainability models, ultimately accelerating India’s transition to cleaner mobility.
