India’s EV charging infrastructure sees 400% growth, EV adoption stands at 65%
India’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure has seen a 400% increase, achieving 24,000 public stations from 6,000 in 2023, as per TATA.ev’s report.
Titled India Charging Report 2025, the report further highlighted that the charging infrastructure has been complemented by a 65% EV adoption rate.
The study highlighted that the proportion of EV owners who use their vehicles as their principal mode of transportation rose from 74% in 2023 to 84% in 2025.
Compared to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, electric vehicles (EVs) currently run for an average of 27 days per month, which is a 35% increase. Since 2023, EVs have surpassed ICE vehicles by 40%, reaching a monthly distance of 1,600 km, up from 11% in 2023.
Moreover, electric vehicles are now physically present on up to 95% of the motorable road network of India. The expansion encompasses important intercity corridors, with 50% of TATA.ev owners completing trips longer than 500 km on routes like Mumbai-Goa, Delhi-Manali, and Hyderabad-Bengaluru.
Specifically, this could assist in overcoming range anxiety concerns for drivers considering adopting EVs.
