Hyundai Scales Up EV Charging: 119 Stations, 2.3mn+ units of energy
Complementing India’s journey towards cleaner mobility, Hyundai Motors Limited (HMIL) has announced that the company’s widening EV charging infrastructure has avoided almost 1.6 million kilograms of CO₂ emissions by facilitating over 1.8 lakh charging sessions and delivering more than 2.3 million units of clean energy, HT reported.
As part of the company’s larger objective to establish 600 stations statewide, HMIL has effectively set up 119 public EV fast-charging stations around India as of August 2025. By placing these chargers in strategic locations along major highways, important cities, and Hyundai dealerships, EV drivers may go farther between charges without experiencing range anxiety, the report added.
Moreover, Hyundai has linked over 20,000 charging stations, including those run by partner charge point providers, into the company’s myHyundai app. The app streamlines the entire charging process for EV users by making it simpler to find chargers, reserve slots, and even make safe digital payments.
Citing Jae Wan Ryu, the Function Head of Corporate Planning, HT reported, “At Hyundai Motor India, we are strongly positioned to accelerate EV adoption across the country,” he said. “Our investments in both advanced EV platforms and robust charging infrastructure reflect our dedication to easing range anxiety while supporting the Government of India’s vision of mass mobility electrification.”
Hyundai has 542 retail locations in 238 cities, supporting its current EV lineup, which includes the Ioniq 5 and the newly released Creta Electric.
As per HT, Hyundai's charging success can be attributed in large part to its network's 97% uptime. The stations are also customer-friendly, with 24-hour CCTV surveillance, on-ground marshals during peak hours, and are established around facilities like restaurants, shops, and cafés.
Furthermore, to add more convenience, the company has also released the Hyundai Pay in-car payment platform, which enables drivers to pay for charging straight from the infotainment system of their car. This high-tech platform already has more than 1,200 charging stations incorporated, and more will be added soon.
