Hyundai comes in agreement with Japanese culture content firm for EV promotions

Hyundai Motor announced on Thursday that it has inked a preliminary agreement with a Japanese firm that produces cultural material to encourage the sale of zero-emission automobiles in the neighbouring nation.

According to the business, Hyundai Motor and the Culture Convenience Club Co. (CCC) inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for collaborations on data-based marketing, car-sharing mobility services, and an EV experience platform in Japan.

Hyundai Motor President and CEO Chang Jae-hoon stated in a statement, In the Japanese market, "We anticipate that the collaboration between a mobility company and a content provider will create new opportunities."

According to the Yonhap news agency, Hyundai offers the all-electric IONIQ 5 in the Mocean car-sharing programme. It is outfitted with the unique EV platform for the Hyundai Motor Group called E-GMP and has a charge station at the massive bookshop Daikanyama T-Site Tsutaya, run by CCC. In addition, Hyundai intends to provide Japanese consumers with the chance to experience its zero-emission vehicles through the EV experience programme and through collaborative marketing initiatives with CCC.

Due to weak sales, Hyundai returned to the Japanese market in May of last year. This represents new chances in a sector where Toyota Motor Corp. now holds a dominant position.

Hyundai entered Japan in 2001 but left the country's neighbouring market in 2009 after only selling 15,000 petrol vehicles there in its initial venture. Under the slogan "Progress for Humanity," Hyundai aims to supply the market with environmentally friendly transportation. Chang stated in February that the firm needs to learn from and investigate the Japanese market. Hyundai has sold its midsize crossover, the IONIQ 5, and its hydrogen fuel-cell electric car, the Nexo, exclusively online and without the need for physical stores.

The manufacturer of Santa Fe SUVs and Sonata sedans intends to release two all-electric vehicles by the beginning of next year: the high-performance IONIQ 5 N model in January and the Kona Electric this autumn.
