Honda Unveils Next-Gen Electric SUV ‘Honda 0 α (Alpha)’, India Launch Set for 2027

Honda has staged its upcoming generation of electric SUV, Honda 0 α (Alpha), at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. The prototype of the new member of the company’s all-electric Honda 0 Family has been showcased from October 29 to November 9 at Honda’s booth in the event.

The Alpha SUV will join the Honda 0 lineup as the entry model, consisting of the Honda 0 SUV and 0 Saloon, revealed earlier at the CES 2025. The firm claims that the Alpha, in contrast to its siblings, is built to feel comfortable in both urban and outdoor environments by fusing urban driving with outdoor mobility.

The Honda 0 α (Alpha) prototype, created in line with Honda's "Thin, Light, and Wise" philosophy, highlights a more futuristic and streamlined structure, lighter construction, and sophisticated intelligent systems. With Japan and India as its main launch markets, the production version is expected to go on sale worldwide by 2027.

The low-slung frame of the 0 Alpha stands out for its streamlined dimensions that provide SUV-like usability without compromising ground clearance. This is made possible by Honda's "Thin" packaging idea, which enables a slim cabin design that still provides enough interior space and, more importantly, comfort. It appears stable due to its taut surfaces and wide stance.

Honda has redesigned the front end by combining normally separate components into a single, smooth digital fascia. One continuous screen area houses the charging port cover, headlights, and illuminated insignia. The car’s U-shaped light bar is integrated with the tail lamps, indicators, and reverse lights into a single structure.

The car’s overall look enhances the style concept, visibility, and functionality, while producing a unique visual identity. In addition, the clean, relatively undisturbed surfaces, substantial wheel arch cladding, and outside dual-tone alloy wheels provide an attractive appearance.

Moreover, another unique feature of the vehicle is its U-shaped LED lighting element, which stretches from pillar to pillar. Despite the strong appearance of the front and rear bumpers, the upright nose with the inverted U-shaped light bar adds a subtle touch.

The vehicle is expected to compete in the midsize category and might come in two battery variants, with a range of over 500 km.
