Honda launches its first electric bike in China: All you need to know
Honda, with its local partner, Guangzhou, has unveiled its electric bike, the E-VO, in China.
The E-VO, which resembles a cafe racer, comes with two different battery sizes: 4.1 kWh and 6.2 kWh.
According to WMTC, the 4.1 kWh battery pack in the smaller dual-battery system has a kerb weight of 143 kg and a stated range of 120 km. It takes one hour and thirty minutes to charge with a home charger and one hour to charge with a conventional vehicle charger.
The larger triple-battery setup has a higher range of 170 km (WMTC) and a 6.2 kWh battery. This model, which weighs 156 kg, can be charged in 1 hour and 30 minutes with a conventional car charger and 2 hours and 30 minutes with a home charger. The motor, which generates a maximum power of 15.3 kW, is powered by both battery packs.
The E-VO is equipped with semi-slick tires and an unusual 16/14-inch (F/R) wheel combination. Dual-channel ABS is installed. The chassis is made entirely of forged aluminium.
The E-VO comes with many features, including some firsts in the field. In addition to a 7-inch TFT dash with a secondary TFT of the same size that transmits navigation, music, tire pressure, and battery SOC information, it has three riding modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport). While the larger battery type includes a rear dash cam, the smaller battery pack comes with a front dash cam. It comes in two colours, including white and black.
The 4.1 kWh battery model costs CNY 30,000 (about Rs 3.56 lakh), while the 6.2 kWh variant costs CNY 37,000 (approximately Rs 4.39 lakh). It is unlikely that Honda would introduce the E-VO in India because this electric bike was created specifically for the Chinese market in collaboration with their regional partner Wuyang.
