Delhi authorities allow only EV, CNG, BS VI compliant cars as pollution hits severe
According to a formal order released on November 5, only cars that meet the Bharat Stage VI pollution standards and those that run on compressed natural gas (CNG) and
electric vehicles
will be permitted to enter Delhi from other states. The decree further said that commercial four-wheelers and vehicles that emit pollutants are not allowed to enter the nation's capital.Since the government has chosen to carry out Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) stage-IV actions, the regulations are now in place.
A series of actions known as the GRAP are to be implemented when the quality of the air deteriorates. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) at the Centre is the one who created the measures.
Delhi has been experiencing 'poor' to ' severe' air quality since the end of October. The Central Pollution Control Board classified the national capital's air quality as "severe" as of 4:30 p.m. on November 5. In addition to prohibiting the admission of vehicles that emit pollutants, the eight-point action plan under stage IV of GRAP forbids any construction or demolition operations, including those pertaining to the building of roads, flyovers, and bridges, within the nation's capital.
Additionally, the standards require half of the employees in public and private workplaces to work from home.
Additionally, the measures require the governments of Delhi and the states that contain portions of the National Capital Region (NCR) to choose whether to end offline schooling for children in grades VI–IX and XI. Due to the poor air quality, elementary schools for kids up to the fifth grade have already been closed until November 10.
