Bentley to add EV in its vehicle portfolio, plans to launch e-SUV in 2026

Bentley has teased its audience with glimpses of its first electric vehicle, going to be launched in 2026. The British brand has announced that its first all-electric car will be an SUV.  Bentley describes its first EV as the 'world's first real Luxury Urban SUV. The new EV SUV will mark the beginning of Bentley's new PEV or BEV era, with the manufacturer launching one vehicle per year for the next decade. Bentley intends to transition entirely to electric vehicles by 2035.

Although Bentley has not yet revealed any technical specifications, Dr Frank-Steffen Walliser, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors has stated, "Four years almost to the day that Bentley first outlined its Beyond100 strategy, we adapt to today's economic, market, and legislative environment to initiate a major transformative phase for tomorrow. Beyond100+ becomes our guiding light as we expand our aspirations beyond 2030 while remaining committed to a low-carbon future, including delivering solely completely electric vehicles by 2035 and reaffirming our credentials as the British producer of remarkable automobiles for over a century and beyond," the Financial Express reported.

At Bentley's UK headquarters in Crewe, the hand-built 12-cylinder engine was phased out in July of this year. The Bentayga, Continental GT, and Flying Spur were the last models to have the W12 engine. Since the engine's debut in the Continental GT in 2003, over 100,000 W12s have been built.
